Ladybug Coloring Pages

In my house my daughters love coloring books and the little one sometimes even colors on things she's not supposed to. But we all have a good laugh, most of the time because we are a very artistic family and it is important for our children to express their creativity. We just try to encourage them to keep it on the paper, right?

Needless to say we have quite a collection of coloring books, colored pictures hanging on the walls and are always on the lookout for more. Within our collection we have a number of coloring books and coloring pages with ladybugs.

Online Resources for Ladybug Coloring pages

In the past we found some other online resources for ladybug coloring pages. A few of these are not too bad and they are free. Some of them though are not very good quality and there are not very many of them. As a solution we decided to start making our own ladybug coloring pages that we now offer here. They are free for you to print/download.

Ladybug rewards chart
Not quite a coloring page, but a great way to get help around the house. Pin one of these up with your child's name on it. It has 26 squares. Get some stickers and allow your child to earn a sticker on their chart for completing tasks such as cleaning their room and other household chores. If their older, make it harder to earn those stickers! After the chart is full, treat them to a prize of your choosing.

Its a great motivator for our 4 year old to help out in our house and earn a modest toy after a month or so.

Ladybug Coloring Page Tutorial

Are you interested in making your own ladybug coloring pages but don't know how? Well, here's how we make them. If you find this info helpful and would like to submit your pages to our site, we would always love to have more.

Sketch out the ladybug on a piece of paper using a pencil. Try to keep the drawing as simple as possible.

Retrace the ladybug in black ink and erase the pencil after the ink is dry so that the ink does not smear.

Using a scanner, I scan my ladybug image into the computer. I set the scanner to scan at no less than 200 dpi (dots per inch). This is also known as resolution. Scanners also generally have 3 options for color: full color, black & white, and text (also called line art depending on whose scanner you use). Choose the text/line art setting and 200 dpi. This makes the scanner pick up only black and white.

Save your scanned image as TIFor JPG. At this point you should have an image that you can print for repeated use for coloring pages or if you are advanced at Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, you might take the image and alter it further, but otherwise you are good to go with your ladybug printable.
