While shopping at Target we found some really cute miniature tin mail boxes in the dollar section. They had various colors one of them being red. So we picked up a few and brainstormed some ideas on how to make them look like ladybugs! This is what we came up with:

Supplies needed:
- red miniature mailbox
- black acrylic paint
- white acrylic paint
- black Sharpie marker
- 2 googlie eyes
- 1 black pipe cleaner
- super glue
Step 1:
Remove the front lid of the mailbox and paint it black, this will be the head of the ladybug.

Step 2:
Using the Sharpie, draw the ladybug's spots on the body of the mailbox. I used the Sharpie because it was easier to draw circles with it rather than painting circles.
Step 3:
Once the paint dries on the head of your ladybug, super glue the 2 googlie eyes onto the head and then using the white paint, decorate the face however you would like. I gave our ladybug eyelashes and a cute smile!

Step 4:
When the super glue and paint on the face is dried, put the lid back on the box. Take the pipe cleaner and fold it in half to make the ladybug's antennae. Super glue to the top of the "head" and let it dry!

These cute little mail boxes can be used as decorations. We are going to use them as Valentine's Day mail boxes for our two little girls. We will fill them with Valentines, candy and other goodies to surprise them on Valentines Day!!
Another Ladybug Mailbox Idea!
Here's another one of our ladybug mailboxes using a little variation in method.
You'll notice that we used pipe cleaners to make legs, gave him crooked antennae and splotchy large spots.
Also he is more of an orange hue because we took a large brush and lightly blotted pumpkin orange acrylic onto an red mailbox to achieve this color.
The Sky's the limit! Have fun with your ladybug mailbox craft.
